Time Flies When Your'e Having Fun

Life has been great. I have been reflecting the last couple days. In about a week and a half will mark 3 months that I have been here in North Dakota. I can honestly say I have not regretted my decision at all. It has been a wonderful couple months. Living in a small town has its disadvantages but I love it. Although everyone knows everyone its all about relationships. You cant see someone and just say Hi. You get talking and you have a 15 minute conversation. I also love how I feel safe in Turtle Lake. I can walk around town by myself at any time of the day including the night time and not have any worry in the world. I love my job too. If you dont already know I work at the Cenex of Washburn. Yes, I work at a gas station and I am proud to say I do. I have met a lot of nice people including a lot of the locals. Washburn is probaly double the size of Turtle Lake maybe even tripled. I drive about 22 miles to work and then 22 miles back. The drive is not bad at all because it is all highway and the only time it is a problem is when a tractor is in the middle of the road, or trying not to hit deer at night. North Dakota has so much history and I love exploring new things. As far as school goes I applied up at Minot State University. Minot is 60 miles north of Turtle Lake and Jeff's best friend Jeff lives up there with his family, and he is an amazing Christian who has gone through a lot and is a teacher up there. North Dakota is a little different in schooling for their elementary education program. In North Dakota for elementary education you are only certified to teach grades 1-6. Unlike Washington which is K-8. So my plan is to get certified in Kindergarten and then I have almost enough science classes so I am also getting certified for Middle School Science 7-8. Then I can keep my options opened and still teach K-8. I do want to teach K or 1st but we will see what happens. I have written enough but I thought I would keep you guys informed.

Hello

I thought I would start a blog to keep up to date with everyone, and to keep everyone informed. If you are curious about why Meaner; it is a nickname that I have been given by the kids and it has stuck. Today went up to Minot to the Zoo with Chrystal. I decided that I would spend one day with one kid and then the next time with the other. It was nice just the two of us to spend time looking at the animals. I got to even feed a giraffe. It was amazing and will never forgot that experiance. They are going to send a picture in the mail.
